VR Setup Guide: Enthusiast MR (Quest 3 + Trackers + OSR)
The enthusiast configuration assembles everything this site documents into one room. Budget: $1,800–2,500 excluding doll; expects patience.
The stack
- Meta Quest 3 ($499) — passthrough is non-negotiable at this tier
- Gaming PC (RTX 4070+, 32GB) — PCVR via Virtual Desktop
- 3× Vive Ultimate Tracker + dongle (~$550) — sternum, pelvis, optional third for orientation
- OSR2+ platform (DIY parts ~$300, or community-built ~$450) — 2-axis motion
- The Handy ($250) — mounted on the OSR2 for combined stroke+rotation
- MultiFunPlayer + Intiface Central — the free software backbone
Assembly order
- OSR2: follow the open-source BOM; print the frame parts, source NEMA17 steppers and the servo board. Budget a weekend for first assembly, a second for tuning (belt tension, servo limits).
- PCVR: Virtual Desktop with 150–200 Mbps HEVC; SteamVR sees the trackers.
- Mount trackers on the doll (straps, never adhesives on skin) per our tracking guide.
- Virt-A-Mate: install the tracker-follow and toy-bridge plugins; assign the doll's trackers to the scene anchor.
- MultiFunPlayer: bind scripts to the OSR2 axes, The Handy as secondary device.
Tuning notes
- Calibrate the overlay in the actual play space; passthrough scale errors ruin the illusion faster than any tracking lag.
- Start script intensity at 40% — OSR2 at full stroke is violent, not immersive.
- One USB controller for all BLE devices; interference is the #1 support issue in every community thread.
What this achieves
Real doll for touch, synced multi-axis motion for scenes, MR visuals anchored to her real position. This is the current ceiling of consumer sex-tech in 2026 — and every part of it is documented, reproducible and (except the headset and PC) non-proprietary.
