Doll Storage Solutions: From Under-Bed Boxes to Hanging Closets
Storage is the decision you make every day, unlike the buying decision you make once. The wrong storage damages skin slowly and invisibly; the right one costs little.
Ranked by skin safety
- Hanging (neck hook / hanger mount) — zero pressure, best for weeks of inactivity. $20–60 for a hook kit; needs a closet with headroom.
- Lying flat on soft bedding — safe, space-hungry. Under-bed storage boxes (165cm internal length) work: $100–300.
- Seated in a closet, dressed — fine with correct pose and light clothing; check pressure points monthly.
- Foam-lined hard case — travel plus storage in one; the premium option ($200–400).
The rules, regardless of method
- Skin-to-skin contact folds (wrists against chest, thighs pressed together) crease TPE over weeks. A soft cloth between contact points prevents it.
- No direct sunlight, no heat sources, no tight bends past 90°.
- TPE: light-colored clothing only, or nothing. Silicone: whatever you like.
- Powder her before long-term storage (TPE), not after — powder locks the surface.
Roommate-proofing
The zipper storage bag + under-bed box combo is the standard "she doesn't exist" setup: unremarkable, sealed, and opens flat. Cases advertised as "doll trunks" look exactly like what they are to anyone who knows; a generic 160cm storage tote is both cheaper and more discreet.
The travel question
Flying with a doll: a 140cm torso travels in a checked suitcase comfortably; full-size dolls need the dedicated case. Declare nothing — adult products are legal in most destinations (check our law overview), but a suitcase-sized doll-shaped object invites exactly the conversation you're trying to avoid with TSA-style agencies. Discretion, not concealment-from-customs, is the goal.
