Buying Your First Doll Without Getting Scammed
The doll business has a counterfeit problem, and first-time buyers are the target. This checklist is the difference between a $1,600 doll and a $1,300 lesson.
1. Buy from authorized resellers, almost never direct
Factories (WM Doll, Zelex, Irontech…) rarely sell to individuals at real prices; the ecosystem runs on authorized resellers. Fakes clone brand names on slick websites with stolen factory photos. Before buying anywhere, check the factory's official site for its reseller list. If a shop is not on it, assume counterfeit.
2. Price sanity check
Real street prices in 2026: full-size TPE from ~$1,100–1,500, hybrids from ~$1,800, full silicone from ~$2,300, premium (RealDoll class) $4,000+. A "WM Doll 160cm for $699 with free shipping" is a scam or a sub-kilo toy, not the product in the photo. The gray zone ($900–1,100 "sales") is where most fakes hide.
3. Options worth paying for
- Gel-filled breasts/buttocks: +$100–250, single biggest tactile upgrade
- Implanted hair: +$150–350, big realism gain, adds 2–4 weeks production time
- Standing feet: +$50–100, needed if you ever want her upright
- EVO skeleton: default on most brands now; makes posing dramatically better
- Removable inserts: easier cleaning, slightly less realism — first-timers often prefer removable
4. Shipping, customs, discretion
Reputable shops ship in unbranded double-boxed cartons ("mannequin parts" on the label). Shipping is usually 1–3 weeks from China. Customs: sex dolls are legal to import in most Western countries, but the UK (140cm rule) and parts of the US/Australia have childlike-product bans — buy from a domestic reseller if you are unsure of your country's rules, and never, under any circumstances, order anything resembling a minor.
5. Pre-purchase checklist
- Is the shop on the factory's reseller list?
- Are prices in the realistic band for the material?
- Real photo/video of the actual stock, not only renders?
- Discreet packaging confirmed in writing?
- Return/damage policy stated? (Dolls are rarely returnable for hygiene, but DOA/damage replacements should be.)
- Payment: card/PayPal via the shop — never direct bank transfer to a stranger.

Doll + shipping + a care kit (powder, cleaner, drying sticks, blanket) lands most first-time buyers at $1,400–2,000 all-in. Add a storage box ($100–300) or plan the hanging solution now, not after she arrives.
